Writing isn’t simply a way to pass the time. But then, maybe it is. Maybe it is the best way to pass the time. After all, thoughts can be messy, scrambled, inconsequential in their first form. Put pen to paper, or, finger to keyboard, and those words become beautiful, meaningful, lush, and powerful. Writing is a gift, and this blog is dedicated to examining the incredible writing of beloved authors, inspiration for those in the first steps of their writing journey, and all-around positivity for chasing that dream. Don’t simply pass the time, embrace it. After all, we are not living in eternity- start now.

And then feel free to shed your tears in the comment section below. I shall cry with you. The thing that makes The Invisible Life ofContinue reading “The Invisible Life of… My Existential Crisis”
Spoilers ahead! Do not proceed! You have been warned. Okay, let’s do this. Let’s talk about A Court of Silver Flames, Sarah J. Maas’ newest revolutionary piece of literature, and her stark departure from the young adult series it belongs to. First thing worth mentioning: this book is easily the most Adult Content book I’veContinue reading “Book Review: A Court of Silver Flames”
I am not an author. But I have written a book. I am not an author. But I have written several books. I am not an author. Because I am not published. I’m sorry- but if you’ve told yourself these things, it’s a load of crap. You have written, and therefore you are a writer.Continue reading “I Am Not An Author- And Other Lies”
One of my latest additions to my ever-expanding shelf was Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross, a unique jewel of a book, and one I recommend. The world that Ross creates in SoSS is reminiscent of the mystique and charm of ancient Rome, with magic interlacing each word. I found myself captivated byContinue reading “Book Review: Sisters of Sword and Song”
Disclaimer: I am beginning the road to publishing my current novel after obtaining my degree, taking numerous writing classes and seminars, joining SCBWI, and writing several manuscripts that probably will not see the bookshelves. And every single second of this was worth it thus far. But my journey isn’t your journey, and my journey mayContinue reading “Should I Give Up On My Manuscript?”
Warning: Jennifer Armentrout spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution. By chance, many books that I have been reading as of late are significant in regards to the enemies to lovers trope. And well I do like the enemies to lovers trope I think there’s another, opposite, trope that is even more fascinating and that would beContinue reading “The Underrated Lovers to Enemies Trope”
I recently read a feed on twitter about the negative versus positive aspects of giving a bad guy in a novel a backstory, be it harrowing or not. What’s interesting is there seems to be a fair split between those who find it beneficial or detrimental to the story line to give the reader someContinue reading “Bad Guys and Backstories”
I graduated with a degree in Biology. I was so convinced that I would become a veterinarian that I actually took specialized courses in Pre-Vet medicine and obtained a ludicrous GPA to get me there. And then I didn’t go. I didn’t know what I wanted when I was twenty. I didn’t know what IContinue reading “Where do you want to go? I didn’t know either.”
I can only speak for myself, but I find writer’s block to be one of the most challenging aspects of writing. There isn’t a writer alive that hasn’t struggled with writer’s block. We all know what it is, and we all have different ways of dealing with it. For me, it can take weeks toContinue reading “Overcoming Writer’s Block”
If you haven’t read the Vampire Academy novels, you might want to look away. Have you looked away? I assume not because you are still scanning this page. Well, I hope you have read them, because I am about to examine the character that is Rose Hathaway. Rose Hathaway is one of the most, perhaps,Continue reading “In A World Full of Mediocre Characters, be a Rose”
